Scaffolder Damien Healy has worked in every kind of environment, from North Sea oil rigs to the inside of storage silos and high-rise city developments.

With that kind of experience it's no surprise that his business should be a success, with a roll call of regular clients across the region.

Now brother Patrick has joined with a fresh range of skills – and Manor Scaffolding is going from strength to strength.

"Damien is a very highly qualified and he's passionate about what he does. He’s never happier than when he's out on site, making sure clients receive the best possible service," said Patrick.

"With his technical skills and understanding of safety, it was only a matter of time before he set up on his own. That happened in 2008 and the business has grown by word of mouth. But Manor Scaffolding has never been marketed – it's my job to change that."

While Damien has a wealth of practical expertise, Patrick is the right man for the job of promoting the business.

After a career in the executive motor industry (ending as sales manager at a main Audi dealership) customer care comes as second nature. And since he joined last October, Manor's clients, both domestic and business, have enjoyed a Rolls Royce service.

One customer was so astonished to receive courtesy calls following the erection and dismantling of scaffolding at his rural home that he was moved to submit a testimonial. Only then did the brothers discover that he was an industry insider.

"As a construction manager, it is refreshing to find a contractor who understands that the customer requires a service, and that they are willing to put themselves out to give him what he wants," said John Moore of Bovis Lend Lease.

Similar praise followed the complex scaffolding erection around the Savoy at the bottom of Hall Bank, allowing maintenance of the Grade II-listed Buxton landmark. And Manor's commitment to quality has ensured its position as main scaffolding contractor at Lhoist’s Hindlow site. Now the Buxton brothers have opened a new base in Glossop, ideally placed to serve their existing clients – over 50 of them across the High Peak – and also to develop the business over a wider area.

"We are a local company but we can work anywhere in the UK, it doesn't matter where the job is, or how big it is. It can be anything from someone who needs to repaint their upstairs windows to a multi-million-pound construction project," said Patrick.

"As a small firm, we can do anything the big firms can do and provide a reliable, first-class service. And because we are a family business, everything matters – from our appearance to the quality of our work. We treat our clients' property as if it was our own."
