Kier Partnership Homes has started work on the £3.8 million redevelopment of 22 Tarran Bungalows on Oxcroft Lane in Bolsover, Derbyshire.
A joint project with Bolsover District Council and Derwent Living, the demolition of the defective bungalows will make way for 13 new bungalows for returning tenants, two for existing owners and 20 additional houses for rent to local families.
The new homes will be owned by Derwent Living, which has received £2.3 million of National Affordable Housing funding from the Homes and Communities Agency to make the scheme possible.
All of the new homes have been designed to be sustainable and will feature photovoltaic panels on the roofs. They will achieve level 4 of the Code for Sustainable Homes and are also being delivered to the Lifetime Homes standard.
Kier Partnership Homes' Managing Director, Chris King, commented: "We are ready and looking forward to delivering a quality scheme for the tenants and future residents of Oxcroft. We are mindful of how long they have waited for this project to get under way and we intend to pull out all the stops to see that their new homes are delivered on time."
Demolition will take place at the end of January with the first homes being ready for occupation by June.
