One of Exeter’s most prestigious hotels has moved an important step closer to opening its doors again, with the appointment, by owners Chapter Hotels, of leading local building contractor Kier Western to carry out the major refurbishment work.
“Kier Western is really keen to get started,” said David Snell, Kier Western operations director. “We are delighted to have been chosen to deliver such an ambitious project and to play our part in rejuvenating this landmark hotel for the city.”
Work to transform the famous luxury hotel, a former eye infirmary and grade II listed building, into a stylish, contemporary space that reflects the character of its surroundings, is due to begin early this year.
The renovated hotel will be a Chapter Hotel, the new UK brand for Swire Hotels. The Montpellier Chapter in Cheltenham opened in November 2010 and Exeter will be the next in line in this new innovative brand.
