HTF Stainless Steel were contracted to provide 2 large mirror polished spheres for Kevin Athertons latest spherical sculpture piece.

Consisting of a 2 meter and 3 meter sphere, fabricated from highly polished stainless steel, which were positioned with 2 life size brass statues depicting the continually struggling human form.

"A Reflective Approach" is a two-part sculpture consisting of two life-size bronze figures pushing two mirror polished stainless steel spheres towards a canal. The figures were cast from life using seventeen-year-old Max Langlands. As the figure pushes the ball closer to the canal side the ball increases in size and thus, in the manner of Sisyphus, increases the difficulty of the task.

I like to think that the figure has been caught in the act of pushing the ball into the canal and that this act of vandalism has been frozen into bronze as a sculpture itself. In a similarly playful way the mirrored ball at the canal side, close to falling into the canal, reflects its surroundings, but is itself, also cast as a reflection in the water of the canal.
