Mansell Secures £4.6m Contract

Mansell has secured a £4.6 million design and build contract to provide a new Large Vehicle Inspection Facility (LVIS) at RAF Lakenheath, Suffolk for Defence Estates.

This new facility will provide RAF Lakenheath with a purpose-built access gate allowing Base Personnel to search large vehicles and HGVs using state-of-the-art vehicle screening equipment.

The contract includes the widening of the main A1065 highway and incorporation of traffic lights, a new road network leading to a gatehouse and the LVIS search facility. The search facility is to be constructed using reinforced concrete and incorporates several active restraint barriers to prevent unauthorised access.

Construction is planned to start in May 2011, with completion scheduled for June 2012.

This latest award reinforces Mansell's long-term relationship with Defence Estates.
