Four Southampton families have received an early Christmas present, after moving into the first of 53 new council homes to be built in the city for 16 years.
To celebrate the completion of the four homes in Flamborough Close Millbrook, Councillor Peter Baillie Cabinet Member for Housing handed the keys over to one of the families on Tuesday. Santa Clause made a guest appearance to give the children of the four families and early Christmas present.
Work on a further seven sites across the city is already well underway. The 53 homes will be finished by the spring of 2012 and will provide eco-friendly, modern accommodation for people waiting for affordable housing. These green homes will keep fuel bills low.
The Estates Regeneration projects are part of the council’s commitment to transforming and regenerating communities and provided much needed new properties where people will want to live now and in the future.
