Sisk will deliver the full design and construction of Plot One, a £47.9 million development providing a 271 apartment mixed use retail and residential development within four buildings.
The overall regeneration scheme will transform the area, creating a vibrant and sustainable, mixed-use development for this historic market area of London.
Nigel Warnes, Director Major Projects commented: "We are delighted to be working with the English Cities Fund on this much talked about scheme for Newham Council. The Sisk Major Projects team has an extensive portfolio of delivering similarly challenging projects comprising multiple buildings. Our approach is to work with the community for the community, using local labour and to help train a new generation of skill for the sector."
This is one of six such developments in the UK being delivered as part of a public-private partnership by English Cities Fund (ECf), a joint venture with the Homes and Communities Agency (HCA), Muse Developments and Legal & General.
The buildings will comprise high-rise blocks of 21 storeys, 12 storeys, 8 storeys and 6 storeys. Retail units, car parking and associated office suites and landscaping also form part of the contract.
Local employment and training initiatives are an important part of Sisk's delivery, which proactively encourage subcontractors to locally resource a high level of their workforce. Sisk will also offer on-site training and employment opportunities for local communities with a focus on equipping people with the right skills and providing opportunities for long-term employment.
