Lovell has been chosen by Waterloo Housing Group to build a £1.79 million development of new homes in Carlton, near Nottingham.
The scheme will create 23 affordable homes – 21 houses and two flats – for rent and shared ownership through the Housing Group.
The new housing, set to be completed in June 2011, is on the site of a former pub, The Carlton in Valley Road. Properties will achieve Level 3 of the Code for Sustainable Homes, the system for measuring the environmental performance of new housing, and will incorporate the use of solar panels.
As part of the company's commitment to providing training opportunities in communities, Lovell – which is based locally at Interchange 25, Bostocks Lane, Sandiacre - is providing a construction training apprenticeship for a trainee bricklayer to work on the development.
Waterloo Housing Group Business Development Director Anthony Riley commented: "We are very pleased to be working with Lovell on another site in the East Midlands to provide much-needed new affordable energy-saving homes. The scheme is being part-funded by central Government through the Homes and Communities Agency and has been strongly supported by our colleagues at Gedling Borough Council. The fact we are building new homes and creating jobs for local people is really good news."
