Chandos Remediation Launches

A new brownfield contracting and consulting business has been launched in Cheadle Hulme, Cheshire.

Mark Kingsley, Managing Director at Chandos Civil Engineering, has teamed up with contaminated land specialist Richard Horsnell to create Chandos Remediation.

The company aims to provide a one stop shop for land developers by offering geo-environmental consultancy services, ground remediation and civil engineering contracting packages in-house.

Mr Kingsley said: "Civil's business is well established and has an excellent track record working for a number of national contractors operating in the North West, including BAM, Tolent ISG and Seddons. We hope to utilise existing relationships to make this happen."

Mr Horsnell previously worked for the Woodford Group making speculative purchases of brownfield land across the North and adding value by obtaining planning and remediating contaminated sites before selling on to house builders.

Mr Horsnell said: "When the bubble burst in 2007, I moved to Coffey Geotechnics with the hope of joining Coffey Environments. Coffey Geotechnics had gone through a lot of turmoil following the acquisition of Edge consultants and Webber Associates and ultimately set its stall out as a geotechnical consultancy. I set up with Mark Kingsley to do what I wanted to do, brownfield remediation contracting and consulting.

"Brownfield remediation is largely driven planning and therefore to some degree the success of the business will hinge on a housing market recovery. We see our primary client sectors as housing developers, main contractors and other land professionals. The market has to recover and we want to be there when it does. Like most businesses affected by the recession, we have a rationalised overhead and optimised pricing structure to maximise wins."

Chandos Remediation is based in Chandos House on Oak Green Business Park on Earl Road in Cheadle Hulme, Cheshire.
