When a Cheshire businessman wanted a state-of-the-art home cinema, the damp cellar of his house might not have been the first location to come to mind.
But with the help of Wykamol materials, he now has not only a spacious private screen room but also a bar, sauna, wet-room, gym, utility kitchen and communications room.
"There was over 2,000 sq ft of space just going to waste," said Bobby Durkin of contractor Altrincham Building and Damp-proofing.
"The cellar occupied the entire footprint of the large Victorian house but had been unused for many years because of the damp.
"All it needed was proper use of the right materials to transform it into a perfectly dry and very comfortable suite – and a very valuable asset to the house.
"They say 'don't move, improve' and this conversion really does make the point."
The contractor used Wykamol Kontract 8 membrane on walls and floor, with associated rope, tape and fixings, and finished it off with a Wykamol Sumpflo double pump system to take away any accumulating water.
