Barnsley Council has announced the final stage of the Remaking Learning Building Schools for the Future (BSF) programme has received Treasury approval and all contracts with partners have now been finalised.
The final approval is the culmination of over six years' hard work and brings a massive capital investment in the Barnsley area to allow all the borough’s secondary and special schools to be rebuilt.
Edna Sutton, Executive Director for Children, Young People and Families, said: "Remaking Learning is our contribution to achieving the sustainable regeneration of the borough and to transforming education within Barnsley.
"Building Schools for the Future is absolutely central to our vision, enabling us to completely transform our secondary and special school provision and so deliver improved outcomes for children, young people, their families and communities.
"I am delighted we have now signed the final stage of this tremendous initiative."
