A new Practice Brief from the Chartered Institute of Housing (CIH) gives housing organisations a starting point for reducing their environmental impact.
The guide, supported by Matrix Housing Partnership, shows how organisations can gain the commitment of employees to culture change and can engage with residents. Checklists and practical examples show how to implement quick-win solutions in areas from purchasing office supplies to managing staff travel and how they can then embed change in everything they do.
CIH Chief Executive, Sarah Webb, said: "While we're under no illusion that the threat of climate change requires a concerted global response, individual action also has an important part to play. We hope that this new practice brief will inspire organisations to take action across the range of their business activities. If you follow the majority of suggestions and ideas within this practice brief you will be well and truly on the way to becoming a green organisation."
