A delegation led by the President of the China Property Management Institute spent a morning at the Chartered Institute of Housing (CIH) in Coventry to learn more about the state of housing in the UK.

Ms Xie jiajin and five other senior figures from housing and property management in Beijing and Tianjin met with CIH Chief Executive Sarah Webb, Yvonne Leishman from CIH's board of trustees and Richard Baines from Black Country Housing, an expert in the environment and housing.

President Xie jianjin expressed a particular interest in learning lessons from the UK on energy saving measures in housing. She said: "Despite the fact that we do not currently have a government initiative in China (on reducing the environmental impact of housing) we are very keen to make it work at a high level. I feel that although the UK is far from China, there are many potential areas in which we can cooperate and work together."

Yvonne Leishman reciprocated: "There is a lot we can both learn from each other. Exchanges like these help us to raise the standard (of housing knowledge and practice) across the world and are very useful. In the end it is the communities we serve that benefit."
