Kier Longley has been announced as the chosen contractor for the new £16 million Hastings Academy in East Sussex.
The new building will replace Hillcrest School in east Hastings with a state-of-the-art academy that will provide an innovative educational environment through a broad range of teaching and learning resources.
The plans unveil a modern facility, complete with purpose-built drama and performance space, a creative learning centre, a science laboratory, computer suites, an amphitheatre and improved sports facilities - all with fully-integrated special needs provision. The outside areas will feature large landscaped open spaces and an all-weather sports pitch.
Hastings Academy Principal, Theresa Phillips, commented: "We are thrilled with the plan. It will provide everything necessary for a modern, first-rate education, as well as being a terrific resource for the local community."
Kier Longley is due to start building work early next year and the new academy is expected to open in September 2012.
