A plan that will shape the development of Leicester city over the next 15 years has been endorsed by the government.
The Leicester Core Strategy will guide decisions on planning applications, and allocate land for uses such as homes, offices, green spaces and shopping.
The Government has rated the strategy as sound, and judged it to be effective in the way it plans for the homes and job opportunities required for the city's families and growing population.
Cllr Abdul Osman, the city's Cabinet member for Regeneration and Transport said: "I am very pleased the council’s city plan has been judged by the Government’s own planning Inspectors to be an effective and a robust way forward. The strategy is in line with the One Leicester vision for the future of the city and will help to make the city a better place in which to live."
After an extensive period of public consultation and scrutiny, the Leicester City Core Strategy will now be recommended to city councillors for adoption at the council meeting in November.
