Silent Air Conditioning Boosts Broadcasters

A Yorkshire based company has developed a virtually silent AC system for broadcast and post production studios.

Silentair have designed a system with an operational noise level of under 15dB even at maximum fan speed. This ducted AC system is very different to normal AC cooling solutions, as it does not need to use acoustic silencers or oversized ducting to quieten it down. The indoor unit is so quiet that by adding even a short length of ducting results in an AC system that you just cannot hear.

Silentair have made full use of the indoor units 'silent running' and have designed this system to be installed inside the studio, which instantly eliminates the need for multiple penetrations in the walls and ceiling - standard practice for normal studio AC systems. A single 75mm diameter hole in the studio wall is all that this system needs.

Many agree that putting the indoor unit inside the studio solves many problems and allows them to use their own designed ducting to deliver conditioned air into the studio without creating any draughts.

Silentair have not followed the rest of the Studio AC pack, preferring to take a completely new approach to studio Air Conditioning. Their innovative approach has solved many of the traditional problems associated with studio Air Conditioning. These developments have also resulted in cost savings and substantially reduced onsite installation times.
