Taylor Wimpey has announced the appointment of Kevin Beeston as Non-Executive Chairman, following a selection process led by Rob Rowley, Senior Independent Director, on behalf of the Nomination Committee.
Kevin joins the Board with effect from 1 July 2010 and will take up the role of Chairman on that date. Kevin will succeed Norman Askew, who announced his intention to stand down from the Board in December 2009.
Norman will step down as Chairman and leave the Company on 30 June 2010.
Kevin recently stood down as Chairman of Serco Group plc after 25 years with the company and 8 years as its Chairman. During that time, the company developed
from a small UK technical services business to become a FTSE 100 international service company. In addition, Kevin has previously held non-executive positions with industry representative bodies such as the CBI, Chartered Management Institute and Business in the Community.
Kevin is also currently a Non-Executive Director of IMI plc and Chairman of three private businesses, Domestic & General Limited, Partnerships in Care Limited and
Infinitas Learning BV. He is a former Non-Executive Director of Ipswich Town Football Club.
