Galliford Try Secures £50m Of Affordable Housing Work

Galliford Try, the housebuilding and construction group, has secured work totalling £50 million to provide affordable housing in Devon, Middlesex and Yorkshire.

Galliford Try has been awarded a £24.3 million contract to build 221 affordable homes in Watermill Lane, Enfield for Origin Housing.

The firm will undertake the design and build contract which will include the construction of 128 key worker homes, along with 16 houses and 77 flats for the affordable housing market and 256sqm of office space. Work on site will commence in mid August this year and completion is expected by May 2013.

As part of its framework contract with East Riding of Yorkshire Council, Galliford Try has been awarded contracts totalling £14 million to provide 137 new homes in Bridlington as part of the Government's new programme of direct funding to local authorities. Most of the homes are to be built to Code for Sustainable Homes Level 4 and form part of the council's commitment to significantly increase its stock of affordable housing by 2011.

Galliford Try will also be carrying out a development worth £11.7 million in Barne Barton, Plymouth which will include 91 affordable homes for the Devon & Cornwall Housing Association, supported by a £5 million investment by the Homes and Community Agency, made through the National Affordable Housing Programme. All are to be built to the Code for Sustainable Homes Level 4 and are scheduled to be completed by March 2012.
