Workers have returned to a stalled development in Deal thanks to £2 million of Kickstart funding from the Homes and Communities Agency (HCA).

Mildvalley Developments LLP are now on site with remediation works underway. The development had stalled and required the gap funding from the HCA to get back to work.

A total of 69 new homes are forecast to be built at the site, all available for market sale. There will also be a new doctor's surgery and community centre.

Akin Durowoju, Head of area at the HCA, said: "The Kickstart programme is about getting people back to work, and building new homes for those that need them. It is great to see work underway on the site and I’m delighted the HCA has been able to support our partners in transforming the former gas works in Cannon Street into new homes for the Deal community."

Mildvalley Developments are taking steps to ensure the construction causes the minimum disruption to the local community. Work is also underway to ensure the development is as environmentally friendly as possible by recycling all bricks, steel work and concrete from the demolition.

The remediation works are being undertaken by EDSR Ltd.
