High Care Air (HCA) Ltd have been instructed to provide the Sports Hall and Dining Area Fabric Ducting systems for the Whitmore School Project.
Working with NG Bailey HCA have designed and will supply the sports hall system to comply with Sport England standards, ensuring extremely low velocities over the court areas whilst providing heating and tempered fresh air from high level to the circulation areas.
The firm has used a central duct to mix and distribute air towards the side of the sports hall and additional diffusers at this point to entrain the surrounding room air within the general supply to low level, well away from the courts. It's an interesting design and works well considering the low velocity Sport England requirements and the high 9.0m ceiling height.
The dining hall utilises half round ducts within a lay in grid ceiling system to provide warm and tempered fresh air within the large open plan Dining Hall, the design mixes supply with surrounding room air to entrain and encourage movement to low level.
Both systems are provided with a long 10 year warranty & flame retardant specification. The ducts for the Sports Hall are wipe clean PVC material whilst the dining room utilises the matt material finish that incorporates our unique Micro perforation system and anti bacterial treatment ensuring that these ducts require minimal maintenance during their operational lifetime.
Whitmore School is a £40m project with Kier Construction and due for opening in May 2010.
