Hull City Council is welcoming the proposals made by DONG Energy UK and Associated British Ports (ABP).
The proposals are to create a new energy site and riverside bulk terminal in the east of the city, which could give a much needed economic boost to the area.
Councillor Carl Minns, leader of Hull City Council, said: "The announcement will help Hull to establish itself as the green centre of the energy in the region. The environmentally responsible site will create construction jobs and permanent jobs during operation for local people in years to come."
The Hull and Humber region has a pivotal role in the UK energy sector. With an established infrastructure, the capability to handle a diverse energy mix and knowledge and expertise, the region is capitalising on its strengths as a natural location for investment to establish a world-class renewable energy hub.
