Sandwell Primary Care Trust and Sandwell Council have moved one step closer to opening a brand new health centre which will be constructed by Midlands based contractor, Thomas Vale Construction, after a special sod-cutting event today.
Paul Clarke, Director at Thomas Vale Construction said: "As a local contractor, we at Thomas Vale are extremely proud to be part of the new Health Centre in Glebefields. The Thomas Vale Team will work closely with Sandwell LIFT to ensure the project will be to the highest standards of quality. This project will be further evidence of Thomas Vale's commitment and respect to the environment and local community."
The event at the soon-to-be new Glebefields Neighbourhood Health Centre, St Marks' Road, Tipton marked the start of construction on the £6.5 million project between Sandwell Primary Care Trust, Sandwell Council and LiftCo.
Speaking at the event, Richard Nugent, Chair of Sandwell Primary Care Trust said:"With such a variety of health and well being services all under one roof, today’s ceremony marks the start of what will be a fantastic asset to the people of Tipton, and the wider community of Sandwell."
The work is part of the Right Care Right Here programme and will be a one-stop-shop for health services including a pharmacy, opticians, dentist, three GP practices, community nurses, speech and language therapists, and a Citizen's Advice Bureau all based at the new site.
