Maintenance and cleansing works to keep The Exchange at St Nicholas Market in tip-top condition are now complete.

St Nicholas Market, one of Bristol's best-loved shopping areas, now boasts a fresh look to the external elevations of the Exchange building following a £150,000 makeover.

The stonework has also been repaired and there has been a general tidy up of the paintwork to the window frames.

The famous clock face - renowned for its two, minute hands, which show both 'Bristol time' and 'Greenwich meantime', has also been cleaned.

Steve Morris, Markets Manager for Bristol City Council, said: "St Nicholas Market looks stunning - with the front and side elevations looking restored to their former glory. Anyone visiting the 250 year-old market will be impressed with the building's new, fresh look.

"The Exchange is one of the city" historical treasures. It houses many of Bristol's independent retailers who offer a fantastic range of goods to local shoppers."

Refurbishment works in the Covered Market are still being undertaken, they are due to be completed in early March.
