A housing scheme built by Lovell in Ashton-under-Lyne, Tameside, Greater Manchester, for The Regenda Group has received two major awards.
The development was a winner in the National Home Improvement Council (NHIC) awards for its transformation of four sites with 43 affordable homes. The Regenda Group was presented the opportunity by Tameside Metropolitan Borough Council to develop and regenerate the brownfield land with new homes for local families. The scheme, designed by architects Denovo Design, took first place at the NHIC awards in the category for most outstanding development using recycled urban land or buildings.
The award judges described the regeneration development as "a clear demonstration of what could be done right across the country to create a 'greener environment' whilst helping to improve the quality of people’s lives". The development has also received a Silver Standard in the Building for Life awards which recognise well-designed housing and neighbourhoods. The two latest awards follow a national Silver Green Apple Award – recognising environmental best practice - which the development has also received.
