More funding for housing in the Deane Valley area of Barnsley has been agreed by Barnsley Council.
In total, a further £4.705 million is to be spent this year on various Housing Market Renewal projects - £560k more than originally envisaged.
Cabinet Spokesperson for Development, Cllr Bill Newman, said: "This year, despite already committing resources of over £4.1 million, we have managed, through negotiations with the Homes and Communities agency, to secure extra money which will help deliver some of our programmes much more quickly."
In particular, it is hoped to accelerate re-housing in central Goldthorpe, as well as providing more money to support people with relocation loans.
Re-housing and clearance on the Reema estate are progressing really well, and workers should be on site in the New Year, building the first new homes.
