Valleys to Coast Housing (V2C), Bridgend County Borough Council and Lovell are giving local people a helping hand on to the property ladder at the Lovell housing development at Cwrt Pant yr Awel in Lewistown, near Bridgend.
Thanks to Welsh Assembly government funding secured by Bridgend County Borough Council, V2C has been able to offer homebuyers the opportunity to buy a property at the development through the Homes within Reach shared equity scheme.
Aimed at first time buyers and people who cannot afford to buy houses at their full market value, the scheme makes home ownership more affordable by enabling people to buy 70% of a property. The remaining 30% is owned by V2C at no cost to the householder.
Four homes offered through the scheme have already been snapped up.
Stephen Cook, Chief Executive of V2C, said: "Helping local first-time buyers stay in their communities is vitally important,” he comments. “With schemes like these V2C can put fantastic new homes within reach of those who otherwise could not afford them."
