The latest employment and skills figures published by the Olympic Delivery Authority (ODA) shows that 4,842 people are currently working on the Olympic Park construction site.
For the first time, the Olympic Village project is included in the ODA's quarterly 'Job, Skills, Futures' update bringing the combined total construction workforce for the Olympic Park and Village 'big build' to 7,270.
2,428 people are working on the Olympic Village alone. Of the current 4,842 strong Olympic Park workforce more than one in five are resident in the five Host Boroughs and over half live in London.
ODA Chairman John Armitt said: "The 'big build' of the Olympic Park and Village is on track and providing vital employment, training and business opportunities in London and across the UK. Our steady progress on regenerating this part of east London is testament to the workforce on site and hard work of thousands across the UK whether they are fabricating steel in Wales for the Aquatics Centre or growing wetland plants in Norfolk for the parklands."
