Hunter Douglas Catches The Eye In Monmouth

Construction News Image
A solid wood ceiling from Hunter Douglas projects division has really caught the eye in the newly completed cricket pavilion at the Haberdashers independent school in Monmouth.

The project, designed by Manchester based architects Buttress Fuller Alsop Williams, includes a stunning suspended wood ceiling that twists through the full length of the building to match the complex corkscrew design of the roof structure.

Working closely with the architects, Hunter Douglas projects division developed a system where each of the wood panels was manufactured using a flexible dowel that enabled each panel to twist slightly along its length. The monolithic nature of the system gives an overall appearance of the ceiling rotating as you look from one end of the building to the other.

In total, over 130m2 grill panels were specified in solid wood American Ash 5-55-15-55 class 0 fire treated with flexible dowels and installed by Lining Systems of Gloucester.

Hunter Douglas linear wood ceilings are available in three profiles, open, closed and grid and can be specified in a wide range of wood species including Western Red Cedar, Mahogany, Poplar, Ash, Maple and Pine.
