McGee Group has recently been awarded the £6.7m, 46-week Structural Alteration Package on the Heritage listed, Western Range Building at Kings Cross Station.

The works comprise all asbestos removal, salvage and soft strip, temporary works design and installation, structural alteration and installation of permanent steel and concrete structures throughout the building.

Uniquely, McGee will self-execute all these works, reinforcing their USP of a 'One Stop Shop' solution which was also demonstrated at the highly acclaimed Stables Market redevelopment at Camden Market.

The redevelopment of Camden Market consisted of two new four-storey buildings that now house shops, food outlets, offices, workshops and storage facilities as well as an exhibition space. The heritage of the site was considered, with the nine 'coal drop' arches retained and brought into use.

The contract for Kings Cross Station was awarded after McGee successfully completed the new Shared Service Yard basement for Vinci on the adjacent Package 4 works which is part of Argent’s, Kings Cross regeneration master plan.
