Rapid Progress On Super-Green St Athan Scheme

Council leaders have welcomed the rapid progress of a new 'super green' social housing development being built by Lovell in St Athan, South Wales.

The 16 properties are being built by Lovell for Wales & West Housing Association (WWHA) in partnership with the Vale of Glamorgan Council. Anne Hinchey and Ivor Gittens, Chief Executive and Chair of the Board of WWHA respectively, were joined by Gordon Kemp, Leader of the Vale of Glamorgan Council and Lovell Regional Director Nick Kurobasa to witness some of the development's last six metre-long walls being craned into position.


Cllr Kemp and Cllr Paul Church, the Vale's Cabinet Member for Housing and Community Safety, both welcomed the development's rapid progression. Cllr Church said: "We're very pleased with the way the work is being carried out and the speed in which the development is taking shape. The houses are already looking impressive and will provide good-sized accommodation."

The energy-saving low carbon homes are due to be completed in February 2010 and will be made available for affordable rent from WWHA.
