Kier Northern is the winner of the Yorkshire and Humber Constructing Excellence Health & Safety Award, in recognition of its achieving an accident incident rate (AIR) of zero.
The company has exceeded 1.2 million man-hours – and £60m of work - without a lost time accident. The AIR of zero is significantly lower than the HSE's benchmark rate of 906, and has been achieved thanks to the great commitment and teamwork demonstrated by all levels of staff and contractors.
The Constructing Excellence Yorkshire and Humber Awards acknowledge all the outstanding work that has been going on within the industry in the region, and in the months leading up to the ceremony a record number of nominations was received from across the sector.
Kier Northern and its fellow award winners are now eligible to be nominated for the same award at national level, to be announced in November.
