A construction apprentice from New Addington, near Croydon, is celebrating after being named by Lovell as its Regional Personal Achiever of the Year for London and the South East.
Joel Alcindor, 22, was rewarded for his outstanding efforts as he learns his trade with Lovell under its apprenticeship scheme. Joel received his award at a specially-arranged ceremony at Kingsbury Water Park in Warwickshire.
He is currently working on a £76 million housing refurbishment scheme which the company is undertaking for Hammersmith and Fulham Homes in West London. As part of the project, Lovell is carrying out improvement work to 2,300 homes in the Hammersmith Central area under Hammersmith and Fulham Homes’ major Decent Homes housing modernisation programme in west London. The work includes the installation of new bathrooms and kitchens, modern heating systems and the upgrading of electrical installations.
In addition to his work on site, Joel attends the Lovell Craft Academy, the company’s national apprentice training centre based at Stephenson College in Coalville, Leicestershire, on a block release basis where he is studying for NVQ Level 2 in maintenance operations. The qualification sees Joel learning a variety of trade skills including carpentry, bricklaying, plastering and painting and decorating.
