Heanor Library Makeover Complete

Heanor Library is set to reopen on Monday 14 July following a major revamp by Derbyshire County Council.

The authority spent £32,000 improving the lighting, rewiring and upgrading the heating system of the Ilkeston Road library, making it a better and brighter environment for users.

Councillor Bob Janes, Derbyshire County Council's cabinet member for cultural services, who will be attending the official reopening ceremony, says people should notice a big difference.

"It's going to be a lot lighter and brighter," he said. "Some of the changes are behind the scenes, but with the work on the lighting and heating, the library’s environment will be much improved."

The Derbyshire County Council library was closed for four weeks while the work was carried out.
