Former Tesco Site Set For Housing Development

The site of a former Tesco supermarket in Shrewsbury may be used to build more than 100 new houses.

Shrewsbury and Atcham Borough Council has received an application for a residential development from Cheshire-based Morris Homes Ltd, who paid £8 million for the site earlier this year.

Under the plans the site, in Arlington Way, Harlescott, would be transformed with construction of 101 homes – 35 of which will be affordable.

John Bentley, of Shrewsbury and Atcham Borough Council's planning department, said the plans were received last week.

He said: "It has been approved. It has outline planning permission already. This is the details and the layout of the homes that has now been received."

The plans will go before councillors at a future meeting.
