Robertson Construction Tayside Limited has started construction work on four out of a total of six primary schools. The primary schools are being built as part of a PPP programme for Dundee City Council, which encompasses six primaries and two secondary schools, and will provide attractive modern facilities for the city’s youngsters.
The first four schools to be built are Craigowl Primary, which combines the rolls of Brackens and MacAlpine, Claypotts Castle Primary, combining the former Douglas and Powrie Schools, St. Andrew’s RC Primary, which combines the former St Margaret’s and St Columba’s and the new Downfield Primary.
The total construction programme lasts 24 months with Rowantree (formerly Mid-Craigie/Mossgiel) and Fintry starting on site at the beginning of 2008. Total value of the six primary schools is approximately £45 million.
Bob Gray, Project Director of the Dundee office of Robertson Construction Tayside commented: “We opened our Dundee office in 2006 as part of Robertson Group’s strategy to establish a presence in the Tayside area. The Dundee PPP Schools will be our first project in the area and we are proud to play our part in creating vibrant communities within Dundee.”
