A topping-out ceremony has been held at Albion Gardens in Stalham, marking construction progress at the assisted living scheme, which provides independent homes with care available on site.
The Extra Care model combines self-contained living with support as needed. Communal amenities will include a café/bistro, lounge, hair salon and gardens. Couples can live together even if only one partner requires care, and pets are welcome.
The apartments are intended for people aged 55 and over who would benefit from care and support while maintaining their independence. The scheme is within easy reach of Stalham town centre.
Prospective residents can apply via North Norfolk District Council’s housing register, 'Your Choice Your Home', following an assessment of their care needs by Norfolk County Council; financial circumstances are also taken into account.
Cllr Jill Boyle, North Norfolk District Council Portfolio Holder for Housing & Peoples Services commented: “I am delighted to see the progress being made with this development. It will be a great addition to the range and quality of housing for older people in North Norfolk, and a great boost for Stalham.”
The scheme is funded through grants from Homes England, NCC and NNDC.
