Ten contractors are celebrating after successfully winning bids for work in a new £30 million framework, hosted by EN:Procure, the procurement arm of social housing consortium Efficiency North.
This latest 'Gen-4' framework encompasses the installation, refurbishment, servicing, and maintenance of lifts, stairlifts, and various personal lifting equipment within residential, public, and commercial buildings. EN:Procure, known for its focus on collaborative working and wider regeneration, invited tenders from companies capable of meeting high standards and contributing to social value.
The 10 appointed contractors possess specialist third-party or independent accreditation through the Lift and Escalator Association (LEIA) or the Lifting Equipment Engineers' Association (LEEA), underscoring the framework's commitment to safety and compliance in this complex sector.
Emma Mottram, Director of Operations at EN:Procure, highlighted the importance of these appointments. "As always, we look for companies with impressive skills in a particular sector," she said. "For example, those working in healthcare and social care settings must prioritise people's safety, mobility and dignity while also adhering to important health and safety regulations."
Ms Mottram added that the chosen firms impressed with their track records and align with EN:Procure's focus on creating jobs, training opportunities, and apprenticeships that bring wider benefits to the areas they operate in.
The framework combines two original invitation to tender (ITT) lots and will run for 48 months across the UK, with potential for contract renewals. It covers a broad range of equipment, including low and high-rise hydraulic and traction passenger lifts, goods lifts, service lifts, healthcare lifting equipment, various stairlifts, wheelchair platform lifts, and ceiling track hoists. The contracts also include work on escalator installations, moving walkways, technical inspections, and lift maintenance services.
"This is a great opportunity for contractors working in this part of the built environment. We're delighted to appoint a range of successful firms that share our ethos and will bring social value and other benefits to the wider community," Ms Mottram concluded, expressing anticipation for the new job creation and further development of ESG strategies this framework will entail.
Procured under EN:Procure's latest Gen-4 framework agreements, the initiative incorporates the FAC-1 Framework Agreement and dynamic models for ESG delivery, alongside a strong focus on increased transparency and collaboration. It is designed to provide extensive social, economic, and environmental benefits for communities served by Efficiency North's membership of social housing providers, local authorities, and other public sector bodies.
