Galliford Try's Building North East and Yorkshire team has been awarded a £56.4 million contract by the Ministry of Justice (MOJ) to carry out essential fire safety improvements at HMP Moorland.
The project will involve comprehensive upgrades to the fire safety infrastructure across the Category C prison, including the installation of enhanced fire alarms, emergency lighting systems, improved fire compartmentalisation, smoke extraction systems, roof vents, high-pressure misting units and upgraded fire doors.
The contract is the team's second major fire safety improvement project of the year, following a £44.5 million contract win at HMP Wakefield in February.
Matt Raynor, Galliford Try's Operations Manager at HMP Moorland, said: "We have been working collaboratively at HMP Moorland for the past three years and have established a great relationship with the establishment. The team is looking forward to continuing our close collaboration on the FSI programme and using our existing knowledge of the prison to ensure the project is a success."
Ian Jubb, Managing Director of Galliford Try's Building division, commented: "Winning this contract is a testament to the expertise and strong track record of our team in delivering critical upgrades within secure environments.
"Fire safety is a key priority for the MOJ, and we are proud to be playing our part in ensuring the highest standards are met at HMP Moorland. We look forward to working closely with the client and stakeholders to successfully deliver this vital programme of works."
