Construction firm Kier has been selected to develop the new Pinn River School, a special educational needs and disability (SEND) school for pupils in the London Borough of Hillingdon. The project is funded by the Department for Education and the new school will be managed by the Eden Academy Trust.
The new 180 place school, for students 4-19, will specialise in the educational needs of children and young adults with severe or profound learning difficulties, including pupils with autism and / or multi-sensory impairments (MSI).
It will offer a wide variety of learning spaces including classrooms, activity spaces, learning hubs, life skills rooms and a range of therapy provisions including rebound therapy and a hydro pool. A hoist network will assist children and young adults with physical limitations to move around the building, ensuring that education opportunities are available for all students.
David Rowsell, Managing Director for Kier Construction London, said: "We are proud to be working in partnership with the Department for Education and The Eden Academy Trust to deliver this new school.
"Pinn River School will provide its students with modern facilities designed to meet individual needs and will help to meet the increased demand for specialist education places in the borough and surrounding communities."
