MKM Building Supplies has opened its 125th branch in Colchester, Essex, creating 20 new jobs.
MKM Colchester will be headed up by Branch Directors Neil Robinson and Shaun Webb, both of whom have deep roots in the local community and extensive experience in the building industry.
Commenting on the opening, Branch Director Neil Robinson, who brings over 28 years of experience from businesses including Jewson, and whose career in the industry began at the tender age of 12 helping out on Saturday mornings at a local merchant, said: "I've lived in Colchester for 34 years, and it’s a privilege to have the opportunity to lead a business in an area I love. There's real community spirit here and both Shaun and I are determined that the new MKM Colchester branch will be an extension of that. To locals, we want to be the 'big yellow building down the road' and our customers can always expect us to be welcoming, helpful and provide the products and services they need.
"It's important to us that we do more than just supply great products, and we will be actively upholding MKM’s well-known values to provide support to local projects and charities. We couldn’t be happier to be supporting local initiatives such as St Helena Hospice and Bright Lives, along with local charity sports teams."
With a substantial covered 30,000 sq ft warehouse, MKM Colchester will supply tradespeople and the public with diverse stock and product offerings from prestigious brands such as Siniat, Kronospan, IG Lintels, Global Stone, Worcester and Ideal Boilers, and Makita. Specialising in plumbing & heating, kitchen & bathroom solutions, brick specialisation, and timber and sheet materials, the branch is poised to introduce a contemporary perspective to the building supplies industry.
Speaking about the specialisms and expertise in branch, Branch Director Shaun Webb, who has lived in Colchester for over 29 years and has over 35 years of industry experience, added: "At the heart of the new MKM Colchester branch lies a commitment to excellence and a unique customer experience that sets us apart. Boasting over 500 years of combined experience, our team are all specialists with rich merchanting backgrounds. This depth of experience ensures that we cater to both trade professionals and the public with unrivalled knowledge, one-to-one customer services, and experience gained from across the town to identify and eliminate what doesn't work. We’ll go the extra mile wherever possible, with options for same day delivery, curtain side deliveries, smaller lorries for restricted areas and even out of hours deliveries if requested. Whatever the customer needs."
