Several road resurfacing projects have commenced on roads throughout Essex.

Essex Highways has started its 2023–2024 initiative to improve many county roads.

The next year's maintenance and repair budget for the carriageway in Essex is over £35 million, according to Essex Highways.

Additionally, Local Highway Panels have been given an additional £1.2 million for resurfacing.


"The additional funding allocated to fixing Essex's roads is a clear commitment from Essex County Council to ensuring damage caused by the winter is repaired and roads are maintained," said Cllr. Lee Scott, Cabinet Member for Highways Maintenance and Sustainable Transport for Essex County Council.

"It's exciting that the resurfacing programme is now under way, and that additional crews have been secured to support it and help with the volume of work required to repair roads across the county, increasing the visibility of the service as these repairs are being made."
