ISG & The Prince's Trust Collaborate For 'Get Into Construction' Programme

National firm ISG has joined forces with The Prince's Trust to help young people find a career path in construction.

The companies helped back two young men through the 'Get into Construction' programme on ISG's Midlands sites.

The 'Get into' programme is designed to help young people aged 16-30 who are currently not in work, education or training by giving them an opportunity to gain work experience and receive sector specific training to move into work.

This tailored programme aims to deliver skills-based experience encouraging young people to harness one of ISG's company values to 'never stop learning'. It also focuses on developing essential employability and soft skills.

As part of the programme, Conor completed his HAS test and CSCS test before embarking on a two-week placement at ISG's Ladywood Leisure Centre site in Birmingham.

On site, Conor undertook a trade rotation, shadowing painters and decorators, electrical engineers, tilers and carpenters.

Conor said: "It has been really interesting, and I have seen and learnt a lot. Looking at all the trades has helped in the decision that I would like to pursue a career as an electrician."

Having benefited from previous programmes with The Prince's Trust and having already gained his CSCS card, Jamie embarked on the programme at ISG's University of Wolverhampton site.

Jamie spent time with the team developing his labouring skills showing commitment to the placement.

He impressed the ISG team so much that he has since been offered a position on site.

Pam Rayment, operations executive, The Prince's Trust, commented: "Jamie stood out on this programme and we are delighted that he has been given this opportunity.

"The Prince's Trust always strive to support young people on the 'Get into' programmes to achieve a positive outcome.

"With the support and guidance from ISG, Jamie has now launched his career in construction."
