Electrical Network Modernisation Work Progresses In Liverpool

Works to modernise the electrical network in Liverpool are progressing with SP Energy Networks expected on site in Edge Lane next weekend.

The work is part of a £6.5 million investment plan in Liverpool's electrical network.

SP Energy Networks will carry out the work in Edge Lane from 8pm on 10 August until 6am on 13 August.

There will be outbound (eastbound) double-lane closures with traffic management in place near the entrance to Liverpool Shopping Park at Montrose Way during the works.

Working in conjunction with Liverpool City Council, the full programme is scheduled to be complete by October 2018.

Mark Sobczak at SP Energy Networks, said: "We apologise for any inconvenience that will be experienced during this upgrade project. Over the weekend in Edge Lane our team will be working hard to complete the job as quickly as possible and keep inconvenience to a minimum.

"Overall this project will support today's customers in Liverpool as well building a network for the future. As we shift to electric transport with more people owning their own electric cars, and the electrification of other sectors like heating, it will be vital that major cities like Liverpool have a robust and modern electricity network capable of supporting increased demands."
