BAM has been appointed to deliver a £11.9 million redevelopment scheme at Whitby Hospital.

The company was selected for the project by NHS Property Services (NHSPS) following a procurement process via the Government's Pro-Cure 22 healthcare framework.

BAM will partner with health sector designers Medical Architecture to carry out a full detailed technical design to allow the scheme to go to planning. NHSPS has also confirmed it can fund construction of the development.


Paul Cleminson, Construction Director, said: "Hospitals are complex buildings. The ProCure22 framework is an excellent way to tender major capital works because it allows early engagement for all the key partners to price it more completely and to identify and minimise the risks. It also means we form partnerships at the outset. That is a beneficial way to proceed when delivering something as much needed and important to local people as these new facilities are."

Dr George Campbell, local GP and CCG Governing Body member, said: "After receiving confirmation of the funding from the Department of Health and Social Care via NHS Property Services, we're relieved to have reached this milestone in what is a very technical project. We're thrilled that BAM will be working with us."
