Keepmoat is to begin a £4.5 million tower block refurbishment project in Tees Valley.
The contractor will improve the quality of energy efficiency and accommodation at Prior & Melsonby Court and Dawson House in Billingham, alongside Jupiter Court in Middlesbrough.
The company was selected for the scheme by housing provider Thirteen Group and work is to begin in early 2017.
Features include improvements to residential accommodation, including the installation and upgrade of smoke ventilation, emergency lighting, and lift and fire alarm systems alongside the replacement of all the soil and vent pipes on each tower block.
Communal space on the ground floors will also undergo a transformation; with the internal space set to be remodelled, potentially leading to the provision of additional accommodation in the future.
David Ward, regional managing director for Keepmoat in the North, said: "Keepmoat has a positive track record of delivering high quality regeneration projects in the region, which have made aesthetic enhancements to the area, while drastically improving the home life of its residents."
Paul Jenkins, head of asset for Thirteen Group, added: "We look forward to working again with Keepmoat, a trusted partner of Thirteen Group, on these vitally important investment schemes."
