Britcon has been selected to deliver £2.3 million of civil engineering works at a chemical plant expansion project in West Yorkshire.

The work is part of Kemira Chemicals £13.8 million expansion at its 34-acre plant in Bradford.

The new 4,700 sq m facility was designed by Engie Fabricom, which chose Britcon due to its expertise in civil and build projects.

The firm will provide a 'one stop solution' for the project, including civils and steelwork for a 13-metre-high process building, a tank farm, tanker unloading area and fire water collection pit with external drainage and hardstandings.

Matt Leitch of Impruv Project Services, which is leading the £13.8m project, said: "We are delighted to progress the project with the very specialist skills of Britcon which is able to deliver this new facility to our unique specification.

"When completed the new facility will greatly enhance Kemira’s manufacturing capability and production output, increase employment at the site and significantly reduce road transport traffic to and from the plant."

Britcon began works on site last month and has scheduled a handover date for summer 2016.
