Essential maintenance works are being carried out along the A14 and M11 in Cambridgeshire, Highways England has announced.

The £6.3m programme began on 16 November and will run until summer 2016.

Features of the project include:

• Refurbishing bridges.

• Improving the road surface.

• Introducing new signs on the M11, providing better directions for Addenbrookes hospital.


• Cleaning and repairing drainage.

• Clearing vegetation.

• Resurfacing paths.

• Replacing sections of safety barrier along parts of the route.

• Strengthening embankments.

Locations affected by the work include:

• A1307 Huntingdon Road.

• A14 between junction 26 (St Ives) and 29 (Bar Hill).

• A14 between junction 29 (Bar Hill) and 31 (Girton).

• A14 between junction 31 and J34.

• M11 entry slip road, junction 13.

• A14 at Grange Farm.

Works will take place overnight with a 40mph speed limit in place for safety.
