Vinci Construction UK has completed building student accommodation in Nottingham.

Known as Global Point, the 14-storey £31m development was built for client Mortar Developments and Aberdeen Asset Management.

Of the 449 rooms, 404 have en-suite facilities while the remaining 45 are self-contained flats. Global Point also includes a basement car park, three retail units, reception and common break-out area for the residents.

Built on the site of the former Nottingham Odeon cinema, the development provides high-spec flats for Kaplan International and Nottingham Trent University students. The majority of the residents are from overseas, embarking on foundation courses in English before commencing degree courses.

Project Manager for VINCI Construction UK, Jason Lyne, commented: "Transforming what was sadly a derelict site for a long time has been thoroughly rewarding. We've worked closely with Mortar Developments to create exemplary accommodation in the heart of a city that has long been popular with students.
