First Glimpse Of Catterick Garrison Development Revealed

The first glimpse of a new, joint town centre development in Catterick Garrison by Kier Property and Lingfield Securities has been revealed.

A new cinema is to be the focal point of the £25m North Yorkshire town centre scheme. Empire Cinemas will operate the seven-screen development, which will be at the heart of the larger retail and leisure development being built by Kier and Lingfield.

Contracts have already been exchanged on more than 80% of the retail space available to several high street brands, including Next and Sports Direct, as well as food and drink operators including Pizza Express, Starbucks, Prezzo and Greene King.

In May 2014, Kier Construction began work on the site, which is situated just a few miles from the A1 and at the heart of the town.

Mark Robinson, associate director for Kier Property, commented: "We are delighted to be working with Empire Cinemas on this exciting retail and leisure development in Catterick, which will bring a new era of entertainment, shopping and leisure facilities to the town and act as a hub for the community. This is a major development, which will create jobs and bring money into the local economy when it officially opens in summer 2015."

Justin Ribbons, CEO of Empire Cinemas, added: "We’re thrilled to be a part of this redevelopment and to be the ones to bring a cinema to the residents of Catterick. Its opening will create jobs for local people and we also hope it will boost the local economy. We believe everyone should be able to enjoy film on the big screen, so we’re thrilled that Empire Cinemas is to make this possible."

The new development is available to view via Kier's Twitter feed.
