After more than ten years in the planning, the doors to Furness Academy's new school buildings has opened, marking the first time all students and staff have been based on one site.
Built by Kier, the new three-storey academy building, will accommodate up to 1,200 pupils and boasts 3D learning, a recording studio and dance and drama suites as well as an indoor sports hall, multi-use games area and an all-weather sports pitch.
Chairman of governors Ted Creighton, commented: "This is something the educational sponsors have been looking forward to for some time.
"This is a really exciting time for everyone who has worked hard to try to get a brand new secondary school building for Barrow. It will make a real difference to have everyone together in one hub, with the latest technologies and all the staff working as one team."
